Enter any bank or office, and it is likely that you will hear employees calling out for a particular person, asking him or her to check for messages, or get an important document photocopied or give instructions for the purchase of stationary. The person could also be managing the front desk phone calls and visitors.

In all likelihood, that person will be the office assistant or front office resource person. Given the required skills set, the office assistant often plays a role that is indispensable for the smooth functioning of either the front office or the back office.

Recognizing the significance of office assistants in work places, Nithya Saadhana conducts training programs to equip youth with Intellectual Developmental Disorders in related duties and responsibilities. Accordingly, the training program prepares the youth in the following areas:

  1. English Reading to follow written instructions
  2. Basic financial transactions, billing and accounting concepts
  3. Filing of documents, managing courier and postal related work
  4. Attending phone calls, taking and passing messages
  5. Photocopying, scanning and filing
  6. Using computers for data entry and mails
  7. Making authorized purchases and submitting of bills/accounts
  8. Preparing of work reports

The training course also helps the participants in work place preparedness which develops their personality. Accordingly, they learn the importance of grooming, good conduct and etiquette, communication and social skills. They learn to use gadgets including the mobile phone in alignment with their work requirement. More importantly, it trains them on travelling independently, while observing the various dos and don’ts, for their own safety.
