A day spent with employees of Goldman Sachs – September 2019

As part of their CSR activity, about 35 trainees from Goldman Sachs spent the day with the trainees at Nithya Saadhana.

During the warm and friendly interaction, the trainees from the company engaged our students in various games, and appreciated the presentation made by them.

A student of Christ University did a 30 hour internship with us as part of his 1st year BCom, Community Experience Program.

Students studying in MD Psychiatry at St. John’s Medical college visited Nithya Saadhana to understand more about the benefits of our training program in Rehabilitation of persons with Mental Illness and Intellectual Disabilities.

A team of trainers from Richmond Fellowship visited Nithya Saadhana  to get a first hand feel of the methods it follows in imparting training to young adults  in the fields of Electronics sub assembly, Office Assistantship & Assistant Special Educator.

Second year students doing their Masters Degree in Home Science from the Home Science College visited Nithya Saadhana to understand the behaviour and psychological improvements that occur in persons with Intellectual disability, when they are trained in areas they can perform well and also are gainfully employed.

Ms. Mary of Christ University visited Nithya Saadhana to explore the opportunities of a tie up with the Department of Social Work, for students to volunteer in our organisation as part of their internship program. She suggested that her students could help in creating awareness among the general public and prospective employers.

Employees of SAP LABS visited our centre and spent half a day with the trainees. As part of their CSR, they donated a few equipment and tools that is used in the training.

We are very thankful to them for their kind gesture. The short presentation program made by the trainees to the visitors started with a sloka recital. Sloka classes are conducted by Sunitha Rajesh & Pallavi Raghu once a week for the trainees, which they really look forward to.

Project For Diploma Students Of MEI Polytechnic

Head of the department of electronics and communication Mrs.Roopa Rekha is very eager to send her students to our training centre. The college mainly deals with the theory aspects, whereas the students get exposure to practical knowledge at our centre. They also get to spend time with different abled of almost their age. They benefitted immensely with the experience.

This is regular diploma students learning practicals from adults with IDD the interaction was worth observing. When the regular students realized they knew all the theory but are less adept at the soldering techniques compared to our trainees. About 4 batches visited between 2014 and 2017

Dr. Aarti Jagannath

Dr. Arti, Asst. Professor Department of Psychiatry from NIMHANS, along with a few other members from the department visited our centre. The trainees made a presentation to them explaining all the activities of the centre.

Many doctors from the Dept. of Psychiatric rehabilitation visit us regularly to get a feedback from us about the trainees they refer and also see their progress.

Mr. Harish H D

Mr. Harish H D, who is a counselor and psychotherapist, visits our centre once a week and spends a couple of hours with the trainees their parents and siblings.

He gives them a patient hearing and discusses strategies and techniques to make the young adults more independent, self-reliant and responsible.

The counseling sessions mainly focuses on:

  • Planning for the future of the trainee
  • Improving the quality of life of the trainee
  • The well being of the trainee
  • Behavioural issues, to concentrate more on the strengths of the trainee
  • Role of the parents in getting placement and career development of the trainee, ultimately making the trainee more functional

All the parents who have participated in the discussions so far have benefited immensely and are very happy that they have been initialised to think in a particular direction. The suggestions and action plans given by Mr. Harish have been accepted and the parents feel motivated and are encouraged to implement the ideas very gladly.

Vedant, A Student Of O P Jindal Law College, attended A One Month Internship At Nithya Saadhana

In 2017 Vedant perfectly enjoyed interacting with the trainees and helping them learn, He also did a lot of administrative assistance filing and data entry.
